I’ve been listening to Seth Godin’s ‘The Linchpin’ on repeat this past week. In it, he talks about how easy it is to succumb to “the lizard brain”, which is the lazy part of us that just goes through the motions of everyday life and is too scared to put in the effort needed to produce great things, to make art.
Art is all around us. Our work is art. Our relationships are art. Our bodies, our health, all art. And, like all art, it takes work and practice to get better at it and to eventually get good at it. But the problem is that we don’t put in the work. We become lazy, scared lizards.
It’s like that saying: “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.”
We expect our bodies to change or our partners or our work situation but we’re not willing to change ourselves and the way we do things. But we have to change if we want to see change! The way we exercise, our eating habits, how we talk to ourselves, how we treat our bodies. It all has to change. And the biggest change has to happen in our mindsets.
I know it’s easier said than done but sometimes we just have to do it. Take the first step. Start somewhere. Create your success. No one else is going to do it for you so you might as well stop putting it off and just start.
Start here, with my APP. Or join me in my studio. Either way, you get to connect with like-minded people who want the same things as you do – change for the better.
I’m available to you in studio or via the app, to chat or tailor your workouts or just figure out a plan to achieve your goals.
If you’re still trying to convince your lizard brain to change, you can try out the app for free for seven days, or buy a gift voucher for a friend.
