Back to the Future

Christmas has come and gone – and so have my abs. Whatever progress I had made before all the festivities is buried under a layer of lemon meringue tart and ‘litres ‘of gin.
It’s been three days of indulging, in food and in good company, but now it’s back to reality – or, as I like to think about it, back to the future. Remember that goal you set before Christmas? The one where you imagined a happier, healthier, stronger you? The future you? Yes, time to get back to it.
I’ve started weaning myself off the sugar and alcohol and got back into journalling this morning. I have two major goals for 2019 and have already started working towards them. Another mission I’m on for the new year is a major life declutter – starting with the physical junk that’s keeping me in the past and stopping me from focusing on the future. Every day, I target one cupboard or one drawer and throw out all the useless crap that’s taking up space. I need to make room for my exciting future but that’s not going to happen until I get rid of the junk and the mental clutter that sticks to it like flies on dog poop.
I’m also making room for things that add value to my life; things that send a message to the universe that I’m ready for positive change and I’m ready to grow. I’m ready to go back to my future. The mind shift has happened – now the real life-changing shift has to happen. I’m ready.
All of us are a work in progress. We’re never “done” and if we ever believe that we are, then we’ll quickly stagnate. We can’t expect things to change if we keep doing the same things over and over. We need to challenge ourselves, physically, mentally, and spiritually. We have to have open minds and welcoming hearts to let the change in and let it mould us into our future selves. Not everyone will agree with the changes we’ve embraced and that’s ok. Everyone is on their own growth journey and, if they grow in an opposite direction to you, that’s also ok. It is what it is. It can be hard admitting that we’ve outgrown people we once thought were our friends but, once we accept that things have changed, the healing happens.
We were all born winners and I hope that I remind you of that through my blog. My wish for you for the new year is that you stay focused on your goals and that you get stronger every week. If you need help getting back to your future, I know a really good life coach 😉 I owe my success to my coach and I can’t wait to help my clients to achieve great things.
